Our Specials Team:
Mr. Cortez (Art)
- Students learn the elements of art including: line, shape, form, space, color, value, and texture.
- They also learn the priniciples of design including: contrast, balance, emphasis, pattern, rhythm, movement, unity, repetition, proportion, and variety.
- Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of art projects including print-making, ceramics, line drawing, fiber arts, and many more! Their artwork is showcased in campus and district art shows.
Mr. Garza (PE)
- Zavala's Fitnessgram assessment is administered to all students in grades 3rd-5th.
- Students learn how to play volleyball, soccer, basketball, kickball, football, and a variety of stretching exercises to maintain their fitness throughout the year.
Mr. Wood (Music)
- Students enagage in a well-rounded music program in which they develop confidence and ability in the essential skills of singing, playing instruments, musical literacy, movement & dance, and critical listening skills.
- Students have the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments including: xylophone, metallophone, recorder, ukulele, guitar, drums and other percussion instruments.
- Our students perform in multiple showcases throughout the year.
